My approach to counselling

As a BACP Accredited counsellor whose core training was Person Centred therapy, I can provide you with a warm, supportive, secure and confidential space to talk about how you really feel, without judgement. I will not give you advice or direct you to take a particular course of action. I will not sit in silence either, but actively interact and work with you.

As a mother who has lived apart from her child, I have an in depth understanding of the experiences and feelings of mothers in similar situations. That said, I , like all reputable counsellors am trained to listen in a different way. I put myself aside so that I can understand and feel your experience. I aim to step into your world and see and feel life from your view. This kind of listening has been found to be the single most important therapeutic factor.

My approach to counselling is also Integrative. This means that I will work with you, as my client, drawing from a variety of models of counselling to suit your individual needs and in a way that I feel is most valuable, therapeutic and effective for achieving positive change.

I am aware that internal pressures, childhood legacies, oppressive marriages, a lack of self-belief, self-awareness, emotional support and economic means lead to desperate situations and limited options.

Counselling can help you unravel confusion and help you to feel clearer about the choices you've made in the past and what you want for yourself in the present and future. It can connect you to your inner knowing, your inner wisdom - allowing you to find your own answers and choose the way ahead. You deserve peace, happiness and personal fulfilment.
