About Sarah Hart

photoI am a Registered Member MBACP (Accred) counsellor (514728), supervisor and trainer.
I have over sixteen years of counselling experience working in private practice and a
range of organisational settings. My core training is Person-Centred but I work in an
Integrative way, drawing on a number of psychological theories to support those with
whom I work. My work is underpinned by the BACP’s Ethical Framework and this
includes receiving regular supervision.

I have a niche private practice counselling all parties affected by divorce and separation
related issues, particularly mothers who live apart from their children. In addition to
counselling in private practice, I also work as a school counsellor. In the past, I have
worked for a drug and alcohol addiction service and a probation service, as a staff

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Individual and Group Supervision. I offer clinical
supervision to counsellors and work related supervision to those in the helping
professions. I supervise both counsellors and staff members in the voluntary and
private sectors via telephone and face to face. I have experience of working in a
hospice setting, currently providing one to one supervision to staff. I have two years’
experience of supervising groups of bereavement counsellors.

I hold a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Certificate in Training Practice. I currently offer telephone counselling training to individual counsellors and bespoke telephone counselling training to organisations.

I have a Master's Degree in Policy Studies during which I focused on social policy that impacts on women, the role of motherhood, employment and work-life balance initiatives.

I am the author of ‘A Mother Apart: how to let go of guilt and find happiness living apart from your child’, published by Crown
House Publishing, available from Amazon.

I hold current professional indemnity insurance and I have three current DBS certificates and am subscribed to the DBS update service.

A little bit more about me...

Born in Kent, England, I grew up in South Africa and returned to England in 1988. I have two adult children and two grandchildren. Life outside of work is important to me. I enjoy time with my husband who is an ecologist, walking in the woods, hiking, observing nature, making jam, reading, writing and a number of arts and crafts.
